How much protein is in the Muscle Nation High Protein Bar?

Each 97g bar delivers 50g of protein, roughly the same as a double serve of protein powder. It comes from a blend of micellar casein, collagen hydrolysate, whey protein isolate and calcium caseinate.

Is the High Protein Bar gluten free?

Yes, both flavours are gluten free. Choc Banana and Choc Caramel each carry the gluten free tick on pack.

How much sugar is in the High Protein Bar?

Around 1g of sugar per bar, with total carbs of 3.4g or less. The coating is a no added sugar milk chocolate, with sweetness coming from maltitol, sorbitol and steviol glycosides instead.

When is the best time to eat a High Protein Bar?

Any Last Questions?

What protein sources are used in the High Protein Bar?

More than half the bar (55 to 56%) is a dedicated protein blend of micellar casein, collagen hydrolysate, whey protein isolate and calcium and caseinate. Casein digests slowly while whey isolate digests quickly, so you get a staggered release of amino acids rather than one fast spike. That mix is a big part of why the bar keeps you satisfied for longer than a standard whey shake.

Why do you use a blend of different protein sources?

Packing 50 g of protein into a 97 g bar is no easy task. We use a carefully balanced blend of micellar casein, collagen hydrolysate, whey protein isolate and calcium caseinate to deliver the high protein content while maintaining a soft, chewy and enjoyable texture.

Each protein behaves differently within the bar. Whey and casein contribute high-quality dairy protein, while collagen hydrolysate plays an important functional role in helping keep the bar malleable and chewable. Without the right balance of protein sources, a bar with this much protein can quickly become extremely dense, dry or rock hard.

The result is 50 g of protein in a bar that still actually tastes and feels like something you want to eat.

Is 50g of protein in one bar too much?

For most people who train, no. Your total daily protein intake is what matters most, and a 50g serve sits comfortably within the daily target of anyone eating for muscle growth or retention. The casein heavy blend also digests gradually rather than hitting your system all at once. If you prefer smaller serves, cut the bar in half and spread it across the day.

How many calories are in the High Protein Bar?

Choc Banana has 362 calories (1,520kJ) per bar and Choc Caramel has 371 calories (1,550kJ). With 50g of protein, 3.4g of carbs or less and around 1g of sugar, most of that energy comes straight from protein. Few snacks put up a protein number that big for under 400 calories.

Can I use the High Protein Bar as a meal replacement?

No. It is a formulated supplementary sports food, which means it is designed to top up your diet, not replace real meals. Use it alongside a balanced diet and a proper training program. Treat it as a high protein snack or post workout option rather than a substitute for whole food.

What allergens are in the High Protein Bar?

Both flavours contain milk and soy. Choc Caramel also contains peanut, from the peanut paste in the recipe. Due to shared equipment, both flavours may contain traces of sulphites, tree nuts, sesame and lupin, and Choc Banana may also contain traces of peanuts. Both flavours are gluten free.

Is the High Protein Bar suitable for a low carb or keto diet?

Yes, it is low carb: 3.1g of carbs in Choc Caramel and 3.4g in Choc Banana, with around 1g of sugar. Sweetness comes from maltitol, sorbitol and steviol glycosides, and the polyols are listed separately on the nutrition panel so you can count them however your approach requires. For general low carb eating, one bar fits in easily. Strict keto followers should factor in the maltitol, which some people choose to count towards their daily carbs.

Who should not eat the High Protein Bar?

As a formulated supplementary sports food, it is not suitable for children under 15 years of age or pregnant women, and should only be used under medical or dietetic supervision. Anyone with a milk, soy or peanut allergy should check the allergen statement on their flavour before eating. If you are unsure whether it suits your situation, check with your GP or dietitian.

Should I have a protein bar or a protein shake after training?

Either works, so it comes down to convenience and preference. The 97g bar gives you 50g of protein with no shaker, no powder and no cleanup, which makes it the easier option when you are on the move. The casein dominant blend also digests more slowly than a straight whey isolate shake, so it keeps you fuller between meals. A lot of people keep a bar in the gym bag or car and save shakes for home.

How should I store the High Protein Bar?

Keep it sealed in cool, dry conditions out of direct sunlight, ideally between 16°C and 20°C. The chocolate coating will soften if it is left in a hot car or gym bag, so avoid storing it anywhere that heats up. A short stint in the fridge firms it back up, and some people prefer the denser bite of a chilled bar anyway.

Not a hit :(

Like other ‘high protein’ bars… this was like trying to chew cardboard. Unfortunately the taste wasn’t great either. I ate half a bar and couldn’t finish it. I was really looking forward to these but sadly not a hit for me.
